Arc Console
This long console table was designed and executed in collaboration with visual artist Jason Baerg. The curved exterior is formed from a series of 48 plywood slats that wrap around a walnut frame. The cabinet-like form was chosen as a way to maximize the vertical surface area available for decoration.
The bare slats were sent to Baerg’s studio in Toronto where they received this vibrant design in paint and pastel. Back in Ottawa, the painted strips were augmented with pieces of reclaimed Parliament copper. The copper pieces were trimmed and fastened to overlay shapes created by Baerg’s painting.
